Almond Tree

The almond tree was planted in the front yard east of and center to the two Norway maples on the front boulevard in spring of 2006. The zone this tree is hardy to is one zone further south but I figured I could get away with this, being that I live in that great urban heat island. It seems to have worked so far as I have had no winter die back, it has flowered late enough that there has been no late frost damage to blossoms (even 2012’s late spring frost had no effect)and this tree has consistently produced 3 to 5 almonds every year until 2012 and it produced 30+ almonds. The tree is beautiful and profusely adorned with large blossom every spring and contrasts the smaller blossom of the Nanking Cherry and Hanson Cherry bushes to the west (along the front sidewalk).
